Board and management
Judy Kirk, ONZM, was appointed Chair of the Lotto NZ board in May 2009. She is an experienced director with a wide knowledge of fundraising and business. She was appointed a director of Metservice NZ in 2011 and Deputy Chair in 2015; and a director of Airways New Zealand in January 2016. Judy is also a director of JMK Consulting and a member of the Institute of Directors. Judy previously chaired the New Zealand Lottery Grants Board national welfare committee and the Rotorua regional lottery distribution committee for five years. She also served as President of the New Zealand National Party for seven years. Judy is a Justice of the Peace, and was appointed an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit in 2011 for services to the community.
Tony Mossman is Deputy Chair of the Lotto NZ Board. He was appointed to the Board in May 2011. He is a director of Barnes Mossman Limited, a Hawke’s Bay based Chartered Accountancy Firm. Within this role, Tony has a diverse range of both commercial and rural clients, and has a special interest in the agriculture and forestry sectors. Tony holds a degree in marketing and a diploma in accounting from Massey University. He is a CA and is a current member of The Institute of Directors. Prior to being in Public Practice he spent 7 years in Corporate Banking roles in both the UK and New Zealand. A keen advocate of the Hawke’s Bay region, Tony has had previous community experience within the charity and education sectors in that region.
Miranda Burdon was appointed to the Lotto NZ Board in October 2010. She is an experienced director with more than 12 years experience in professional governance roles. Miranda has had a successful career in general management, and sales and marketing,for various high profile New Zealand businesses, and was most recently the General Manager of Global Marketing for Pernod Ricard NZ. Miranda has degrees in marketing and international relations. In 1999, she studied at Harvard University (USA) as the recipient of Trade New Zealand export award. She is a current member of the Institute of Directors.
Mark Gilbert was appointed to the Lotto NZ board in May 2015. He is an experienced director wtih a diverse portfolio of governance roles. Mark has had a successful business career as Managing Director of BMW Group sales subsidiaries, in both New Zealand and Asia. He has almost 30 years' experience in the automotive sector, covering general management, sales and marketing and financial services responsibilities. He is a charter member of the Institute of Directors, and is a Director of Auckland Transport, and chairs the Motorcycle Safety Advisory Council for ACC, and Drive Electric Inc.
Keiran Horne was appointed to the Lotto NZ Board in November 2015. She is a Chartered Accountant with over 20 years' experience as a business advisor and insolvency specialist. She is a consultant at HFK Ltd Chartered Accountants and was previously a partner at Crichton Horne and Associates. Keiran is currently the Deputy Chair of Solid Energy New Zealand Ltd, is a Director of Breastscreen Otago Southland Ltd and has previously been a Director of Crown Asset Management Ltd. She has a Bachelor of Commerce and Management from Lincoln University and is a current member of the Institute of Directors and RITANZ.
Logan was appointed to the Lotto NZ Board in November 2015. He an independent business mentor with a strong focus on business systems and structure, with senior management experience in both corporate and private sector business. Logan is Chief Executive of Green Acres and previously worked as General Manager of Beresford Associates, DB Group and Freightways Group. He consulted to the credit recovery divisions of BNZ, WestpacTrust and ASB, specialising in business units, and was Managing Director of New Zealand and Pacific branch of J.L.W Transact.
Wayne Pickup joined Lotto NZ in 2012 as its Chief Executive. He relocated from Europe for the role, where he had been working for the global gaming company GTECH S.p.A., as Head of Government Markets for their internet gaming and sports betting division. Prior to that, Wayne was based in Sydney as General Manager for GTECH’s Australasian operations. Previous to joining GTECH, Wayne worked for Lotto NZ for almost five years, most recently as the organisation’s CIO. Wayne is originally from Auckland and holds Bachelor of Commerce and Science degrees from the University of Auckland.
Dan Balasoglou is Chief Financial Officer, after joining Lotto NZ in 2013 as a Senior Finance Project Manager. Prior to this he spent 13 years in the UK working as a Finance Director of a Real Estate services business, in various finance roles with Accenture and also with GE Oil & Gas. Dan is a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and CPA Australia.
Ben Coney is Chief Innovation and Technology Officer. Ben joined Lotto NZ’s IT department in 2005, having spent the previous four years in London. Ben worked for Sony Music Europe for three of those years where he had direct exposure to the development of online distribution models. Ben has been a key contributor to the growth of our online sales channel and has been at the core of its evolution since its inception in 2008. Ben is a graduate of the University of Otago.
Guy Cousins joined Lotto NZ in 2014 as its Chief Marketing Officer. Prior to joining Lotto NZ, Guy was based in the London working as Global Head of Strategy for PHD Media. Guy’s previous roles including Managing Partner for Naked Communications and before that he was Head of Strategy for PHD Media NZ.
Kathryn Haworth is General Manager, Strategy and has been with Lotto NZ since 2009. An experienced strategist and customer insight expert, Kathryn has over 10 years’ experience within retail, government, financial services and media sectors. Before moving to New Zealand and taking up a role with Yellow Pages Group, she previously worked as a consultant to the European Commission and for Fidelity Investments in Luxembourg. Kathryn holds a degree in Consumer Management and a Masters in Operational Research.
Chris Lyman is Chief Operating Officer. Chris, who is originally from the United Kingdom, moved to New Zealand in 2002 and joined Lotto NZ, becoming General Manager Retail Sales in 2005. In the UK, Chris worked for a number of leading retailers including the Dickson’s Store Group.
Amie is the General Manager, People and Culture and joined Lotto NZ in November 2014. Amie has recently returned to New Zealand from Hong Kong and London where she worked for Thomson Reuters, most recently in a HR Business Partner role across Asia Pacific. Prior to this, she worked in generalist HR roles for the Bank of New Zealand based in Auckland. Amie is a graduate from the University of Canterbury with a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Management, and a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Psychology and Mass Communication.
Emilia joined the Lotto NZ team in 2012 and is the General Manager, Corporate Communications and Social Responsibility. Prior to joining Lotto New Zealand, Emilia worked for the Ministry of Economic Development providing communications support for the Government’s initiatives across a number of different portfolios including commerce, information technology and telecommunications, business and economics. Emilia is a graduate of the University of Otago and Massey University.
