Lotto creates 39 new millionaires this year
39 Kiwis have become overnight millionaires thanks to Lotto so far this year – including 13 players around the country who have won big with Powerball First Division. And the year’s not over yet!
This year’s new millionaires have come from all over New Zealand – from Whangarei to Invercargill, and dozens of places in between including Dairy Flat, a small rural town in North Auckland where a young couple won $44 million in November to become the biggest winners ever in New Zealand history.
While Auckland claimed the biggest win, it’s Dunedin that holds the crown as the ‘luckiest’ place for big wins so far this year, with two players winning big with Powerball in less than six months.
And the good luck isn’t just in-store – 2016 has been a lucky year for MyLotto, with five MyLotto players becoming millionaires so far this year.
Four of these winners were lucky enough to become millionaires several times over after scooping Powerball First Division – including a couple from Ashburton who won more than $22 million in April.
