Lotto luck continues for Porirua residents with latest big win
The latest Porirua Lotto winner is still pinching themselves after winning $333,000 with Lotto First Division last week.
The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, bought their lucky ticket on a whim while out grocery shopping.
“I had some change in my wallet and thought I’d treat myself to a Lotto ticket,” the winner said.
After tucking the ticket away for safe keeping, the winner forgot all about the ticket until they visited the store again a few days later.
“I saw a sign on the wall at the shop saying a big winner had been sold there and thought, ‘oh, I bought my ticket here’. I didn’t really believe I could be the winner though – it was too good to be true,” the winner said.
When the winner handed her ticket over the counter to be checked, she wasn’t prepared for what happened next.
“After the lady put the ticket in the machine her mouth dropped open – I didn’t know what to think.
“She looked up at me then said ‘You’ve won!’ I was absolutely speechless,” the winner said.
When the winner found out exactly how lucky she had become, her mind started whirring with possibilities – so much so, that she didn’t get much sleep.
“I didn’t sleep for two days – it was just so overwhelming in the best possible way. You dream about winning Lotto for years but never think it will happen. It’s all just so wonderful,” the winner said.
When it comes to spending her winnings the winner knows exactly what she’ll spend it on.
“A new home is top priority, so I’m really excited to spend the next few months browsing the property guides.
“This money is absolutely life-changing and means we can get the home of our dreams,” the winner said.
The winning ticket was bought at Pak N Save Porirua in Porirua.
This is the third big win in Porirua in recent months. In December, a Porirua local won $15 million with Powerball and split his winnings with a mate; and in October, another Porirua local won $1 million with Lotto First Division, with the winner crying tears of joy.
