Whangamata Lotto winner sets sights on new wheels
A Whangamata local is looking forward to hitting the car yards after winning $333,000 with Lotto first Division last week.
The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, is a regular Lotto player who found out her ticket was particularly lucky after checking it at a local store.
“I always check my tickets under the self-checker machine rather than at the counter.
“When I saw that I was a First Division prize winner I just said ‘Oh my God’ under my breath and slipped away without anyone noticing,” the winner laughed.
Soon after the winner realised she had a big prize on her hands she headed home and made a plan.
“I decided to head out of town and pulled up outside Paper Plus in Waihi. When I got inside, I handed my ticket over to the manager.
“When she checked the ticket and saw how much I’d won the look on her face was priceless – she was just delighted. It was such a lovely experience,” the winner said.
When it comes to spending her winnings the winner will take her time, but a vehicle upgrade and holiday are definitely on the list.
“I’ll take a trip somewhere in the near future when everything has settled. One thing’s for sure though, this is definitely an eviction notice for my car!” the winner laughed.
The winning ticket was sold at New World Whangamata in Whangamata.
